In the 1970s, Peter took time off after high school to travel and work in Australia and New Zealand. While working at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, he discovered something remarkable about natural sheepskin. Medical staff relied on it because it stayed warm in winter, cool in summer, relieved pressure, and provided exceptional comfort for patients who spent long hours sitting or lying down.

He never forgot that lesson.

A decade later, on a frigid November afternoon at a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game, Peter, Gary, and a few friends found themselves sitting on frozen aluminum bleachers in temperatures approaching -20°C.

The seats were hard.

They were uncomfortable.

And they were cold—the kind of cold that works its way through every layer of clothing until it's all you can think about.

Looking around, people had brought blankets, cushions, and anything else they could find to make the afternoon more bearable.

That's when Peter remembered what he had learned years earlier in New Zealand.

What if we made a portable sheepskin seat cushion?

The original Bumwarmer was born.

It didn't take long to realize it was useful for far more than football games.

Creating the original wasn't easy.

There was travel to New Zealand and Australia, meetings with suppliers to explore countless sheepskin products, and refined prototype after prototype until a sheepskin Bumwarmer was created we were proud to put the name on.

It launched in the late 1980s and quickly found customers.

Then life happened.

Careers changed, families grew, priorities shifted, and eventually production came to a close. The Bumwarmer quietly stepped away.

But the story wasn't over.

Nearly thirty years later, something unexpected happened.

Original customers began reaching out.

Not because their Bumwarmers had failed, but because after almost forty years of faithful use, they had finally reached the end of their remarkable lives.

That's when we knew.

Today, we're proud to reintroduce the original Bumwarmer for a new generation.
